…RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS…
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Red Flag Warning for portions of Mesa, Montrose and San Miguel Counties.
Winds will increase this afternoon with drier conditions in place ahead of a storm system over northern Nevada. This will lead to critical fire weather conditions across portions of east-central Utah and west-central to northwest Colorado, where Red Flag Warning is in effect this afternoon and evening. Mainly dry and warm conditions will be in place through the remainder of the week with less wind and isolated late day terrain-driven showers and thunderstorms possible across the north.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
